(Important update: NRC Federal Register proposed rule release now scheduled for April 30)

The May 2025 White House Executive Order 14300 has told NRC to allow more radiation exposure of our communities, workers and our environment. This directive has been roundly condemned (see BACKGROUND RESOURCES below). Forty-one groups signed a letter to NRC in December, opposing Executive Order 14300 directives and calling for better radiation protection for all. See letter.

These informal sessions, hosted by NIRS, GRIP and Beyond Nuclear, will give basic information, and then help to create community-driven talking points for individual comments to be submitted to NRC, once NRC releases its proposed rule — UPDATE: was set for late February but now has been pushed back to APRIL 30, 2026 and, again, subject to change — and we know the content and deadline. IT IS IMPORTANT TO HAVE INDIVIDUAL COMMENTS, NOT SIGN ONS OR CUT AND PASTE SAMPLE LETTERS. NRC will count a sign on letter, or comments with exactly the same language as ONE COMMENT. We need hundreds of comments. Comments don’t have to be long, but should be personal and/or geographic and issue specific.

These session will overlap in content–so, please pick ONE to attend, you are welcome to come back—but sessions will assume all are newcomers. Sessions will be one hour and not be recorded. Please promote them as appropriate. See also this GRIP page for updates and additional resources.

In August 2025, Cindy Folkers discusses the history of NRC and DOE and the horrible implications of EO 14300.

In October 2025, Daniel Hirsch (Posthumously) and coauthors, review history and implications of the Order.

In November 2025, Blume and Schrager spell out, interviewing several experts, how more radiation exposure from this order could be catastrophic for women and girls.

In December 2025, Mary Olson and Diane D’Arrigo discuss radiation regulation and new directives from White House. Hosted by NEIS.
