Nuclear power and nuclear weapons are inextricably linked. The source material is the same: uranium. Several nuclear weapons countries began with nuclear power. Others, like the United States, used their nuclear weapons programs to develop nuclear power. Consequently, any nuclear power country is potentially capable of transitioning to nuclear weapons.
