From Joseph Gerson, Campaign for Peace, Disarmament and Common Security:

The First Meeting of States Parties of the TPNW (Treaty on Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons) concluded in Vienna this week. Please find here a summary of the final communique of the 65 TPNW nations. Its essential elements include
  1. Condemnation of Russia’s invasion of nuclear weapons, its nuclear threats, and those made by other nations,
  2. Detailed commitments to (i) implement the treaty and (ii) create an infrastructure to ensure implementation
  3. Next meeting of the States Parties in New York, winter of 2023
The Meeting’s success and three more Treaty ratifications (albeit by small nations) give it momentum. However, the most important work remains to be done by advocates and officials in the nuclear weapons states and their “nuclear umbrella” allies.
The following briefing paper provides an overview of the Vienna Declaration and key actions agreed to at the First Meeting of States Parties to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, in the Vienna Action Plan, adopted on 23 June 2022.
