GOING GREEN? Iran war boosts renewables (not nuclear)

School Strike 4 Climate _CC

Did the fossil fool in the White House accidentally kickstart a global green energy revolution? As Trump continues to shut down oil and gas access from the Middle East with his ongoing threats against Iran, countries are turning to renewables to fill the energy gap. That’s because, unlike small modular reactors, renewables are here now and are fast and cheap to deploy. Pakistan has already led by example, soaring from a 3% solar energy share in 2020 to 30% by 2026. China has led the way on renewable energy development for years, ensuring a dependency on their supply today. This stands in contrast to the shortsighted US energy policy that is strangling renewables by throwing resources after nuclear power pipe dreams.
