High-Level Radioactive Waste Dump Legal Hearing, Mon., Aug. 29–5th Circuit Court

We Don't Want It
Thank you to Karen Hadden of the SEED Coalition in Austin, TX for the following alert:
LISTEN TO the TX versus NRC legal case Monday morning!
The State of Texas, Fasken Land and Minerals Company and the Permian Basin Land and Royalty Owners are suing the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in federal appeals court, opposing the license it granted in Sept 2021 to ISP (Interim Storage Partners) for irradiated (spent) nuclear fuel and Greater-Than-Class C radioactive waste in Andrews County, Texas. The waste would be stored above ground at the Waste Control Specialists currently operating “low-level’ radioactive waste site.

An oral hearing will be held by the 5th Circuit Court in New Orleans at 9 AM Central time on Monday, August 29th.

The TX vs NRC hearing is first and will be very short, with 20 minutes per side.
Below the list of hearings, you’ll find links to listen live. You can also listen to a recording later. (#2 and 3)
…SEED Coalition, Public Citizen and Sierra Club are still involved in a legal case against the licensing of the high-level radioactive waste dump in Texas, but our case is in the DC Circuit Court of Appeals. Our case has not been heard there yet.
Best wishes,
Karen Hadden
