Nuclear Free Future Award at Cooper Union, 3/4/2025

The 2025 Nuclear-Free Future Awards were held on March 4, 2025 at The Great Hall at Cooper Union in New York City. Each year the Awards offer cash prizes to unsung heroes of the anti-nuclear movement in three categories: Resistance,  Education and Solution. The Awards also offer two honorary awards, in the categories of Special Recognition and Lifetime Achievement. This year’s winners were: S.P. Udayakumar (India), Resistance; Marcia Gomes de Oliveira (Brazil) and Norbert Suchanek (Germany), Education; and Edwick Madzimure, pictured, (Zimbabwe), Solutions. Lifetime achievement awards went to Klee Benally (Navajo, posthumous) and Joanna Macy (US). (Joanna Macy passed away on July 19, 2025 at age 96.) Musical performances were graciously contributed by Laurie Anderson, Greg Cohen, Max Gordon and Peter Gordon.
