On Monday, September 11, 2023, in conjunction with a visit by Veterans for Peace’s historic anti-nuclear sail boat “The Golden Rule,” a coalition of groups held an all-day long teach-in on nuclear issues in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Entitled “The Peaceful Atom Is A Bomb,” the teach-in featured many speakers on nuclear weapons, nuclear power, and radioactive waste issues impacting the Great Lakes. The sponsoring groups included Beyond Nuclear, Don’t Waste Michigan, Kalamazoo Non-Violent Opponents of War (KNOW), Michigan Safe Energy Future, and the Western Michigan University Sociology Department.
