Radioactive. The women tell their stories
RADIOACTIVE: The Women of Three Mile Island, a film written and directed by Heidi Hutner, received its world premiere on Sunday, December 4 as part of the Dances with Films Festival in New York City where it won the audience award for best documentary. Hutner, professor of Literature, Sustainability, Women’s and Gender Studies at Stony Brook University, focused on the women who lived through the 1979 Three Mile Island nuclear accident, specifically four mothers.
The film and reactions to it are the focus of this week’s Nuclear Hotseat, with interviews conducted at the New York premiere by Joe DeMare and Priscilla Star.
And in this week’s Hot Story from Beyond Nuclear’s Linda Pentz Gunter, we look at why France would be trying to market its nuclear power program abroad given this disaster it has become at home.
