Radiation report released! June 17 comment deadline

NAS

The National Academy of Sciences committee today released its report recommending next steps for low-dose radiation research. Starting tomorrow, the public has 15 days to submit comments that will be shared with the study’s sponsor, the U.S. Department of Energy. The National Academies hosted virtual public meetings including an October public meeting featuring powerful and important presentations by communities affected by nuclear technologies. The NAS report estimates that $100 million would be required annually (from 2025 until 2037) to conduct proper low-dose radiation research. Further, such research would require coordination across several federal agencies. NAS will host a virtual report briefing tomorrow, June 3, 11 AM ET, and a virtual town hall, June 16, 11 AM ET
