Attack on Iran? Nuclear fears mount

As fears mount that the US could help Israel destroy Iran’s nuclear facilities, critics are calling out ‘nuclear hypocrisy’. Speaking at a hastily called rally in London over concerns of possible UK engagement against Iran, Iranian-born trade union leader Maryam Eslamdoust said, “Israel secretly develops illegal nuclear weapons, but Iran is the one accused of that.” Sophie Bolt, (pictured), general secretary of the Campaign for Nuclear disarmament, said that while Israel “refuses to admit that it has nuclear weapons, yet no pressure is put on Israel to disarm.”
Iran, unlike Israel, is a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty which allows for a “civil” nuclear program. Views differ on how close Iran might be to building an atomic bomb.
