Yet another Palisades ASLB forms

Our environmental coalition continues challenging LARs (License Amendment Requests) associated with restarting the closed Palisades “zombie” atomic reactor in Covert Township, southwest Michigan.
On June 16, our environmental coalition intervened against Holtec’s dangerous License Amendment Request (LAR) on Palisades’ severely cracked steam generator tubes, a self-inflicted wound due to a rookie error by a company that has never operated a reactor, let alone restarted a closed one this problem-plagued.
On June 25, a Nuclear Regulatory Commission Atomic Safety (sic) and Licensing Board was formed to consider our intervention petition and request for hearings. The ASLB panel includes two administrative law judges who have consistently ruled against us in this very case, including on new and amended environmental contentions late last week. The same day it was formed, the new ASLB panel issued a scheduling order.
Meanwhile, Holtec is going public, with a January IPO.
