Save the ban on new nukes!

VC Summer construction_NRC
Illinois is the latest state to introduce a bill that would repeal a moratorium on new nuclear plant construction. The bill passed the Senate and returns to the House after April 18. If you live in Illinois, you can help stop it. Click here to find and contact your state representative and here to download the petition.
The repeal attempt is part of a nationwide move to smooth the path for small modular reactor development. Montana and West Virginia recently lifted their moratoria but 12 states still restrict new construction.
Several of them, along with Illinois, are considering measures to lift the ban, including Connecticut, Minnesota, Hawaii, California, and Oregon. Kentucky and Wisconsin have already ended their moratoria.
