UPDATE, July 29, 2024

More than 80 organizations, and around 150 individuals, endorsed the coalition comments. Thank you all!

See the final coalition environmental scoping comments, as submitted by environmental coalition co-legal counsel, Terry Lodge of Toledo, OH to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, by the agency’s arbitrarily short, 30-day deadline.

Note the following groups and individuals endorsed the comments after they were submitted to NRC, as also later communicated to the agency:

Lorie Cartwright, Trustee, New England Coalition on Nuclear Pollution, Brattleboro, VT 05302;

Libbe HaLevy, Nuclear Hotseat Podcast, Tujunga, CA 91042;

Bart Ziegler, PhD, President, The Samuel Lawrence Foundation, Del Mar, CA 92014;

John Ephland, Kalamazoo, MI;

Norda Gromoll, Eagle River, WI 54521;

James Kerr, Redwood Valley, CA 95470.

========================================================================================

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Thanks to our environmental coalition co-counsel, Terry Lodge, who has written these Palisades Environmental Scoping Comments. They are in opposition to Holtec’s unprecedented, unneeded, extremely high-risk (for health, safety, and the environment), and insanely expensive (for the public) restart of the closed for good Palisades atomic reactor. They are intended as coalition comments — organizations and individuals are welcome to sign on.
The deadline to sign on is 5pm ET on Monday, July 29, 2024. A number of us requested a significant extension to the short, 30-day public comment deadline, but alas, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission said no a couple days ago. So we have to meet NRC’s 11:59pm ET, July 29th deadline.
To sign on, please email me back at <[email protected]> with the following information:
Organizations — Person’s name, title, organization name, address, city, state, zip code;
Individuals — Person’s name, address, city, state, zip code.
Please spread the word to your networks. Thank you.
