Bring Indigenous Radiation Survivors to D.C.

RECAWorkingGroupfundraiser

Demand Indigenous Radiation Survivors are heard in D.C.

From the RECA Working Group fundraiser:

“We Demand Justice.

For too long, Indigenous communities have suffered in silence. Government nuclear weapons programs have made us sick, yet we are still fighting for the basic health screenings and compensation we deserve.

Indigenous communities have been on the frontlines of radiation exposure. We mined uranium without protection, watched as radioactive fallout poisoned our lands, and now suffer from cancers and diseases linked to that exposure. We unknowingly sacrificed our health and lives for this country’s nuclear weapons.

RECA Left Us Behind.

In 1990, the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA) was a small step, offering some aid and an apology. But it wasn’t enough. Many of our communities were excluded. Decades later, we’re still fighting for justice—while we lose loved ones and struggle to afford medical care. If you’re with us, please chip in today to help fund a bus tour advocating for continued RECA funding to right this historical injustice.

Time is Running Out.

Speaker Mike Johnson refuses to bring a vote to reinstate RECA. He won’t even meet with us. We can’t wait any longer while our people die.

This September, members of the Pueblos, Navajo Nation, and other Indigenous allies will journey from New Mexico to Washington, D.C. via bus with one message: Pass RECA Before We Die.

We will share our stories, sing, dance, drum, pray, and make our voices heard in the halls of Congress.

Your Support Brings Us Closer to Justice.

Your contribution will help us with:

  • Transportation for our community members
  • Housing and food on the journey
  • Materials for our demonstrations

How much we need to raise:

  • If we’re able to raise our $30,000 goal, we’ll have enough money to book a big enough bus for those willing to travel and food & water for the journey
  • If we’re able to raise $40,000, we’ll be able to afford hotels to make the journey much more comfortable for our survivors, who are an average age of XX
  • If we’re able to raise $50,000, we can run advertisements in the DC area while the survivors are in town to promote our activism and drive more attention towards reinstating RECA

Please stand indigenous survivors of nuclear weapons testing. Donate whatever you can afford today.”
