No radioactive communities: Webinar and comment writing workshop

Following Executive Order 14300 in May 2025 directing the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to weaken radiation protection standards, our colleagues at Committee to Bridge the Gap (CBG) are holding a 90 minute webinar, Tuesday, July 7, 8:30pm ET/5:30pm PT on radiation harm that will include time for writing comments. Dr. Amanda M. Nichols, coauthor of Gender and Ionizing Radiation Towards a New Research Agenda Addressing Disproportionate Harm; and Haakon Williams from CBG, will give presentations. Current standards are already outdated and fail to offer adequate public health protections. The NRC will accept public comments starting around July 2 with a final rule expected to be released December 31, 2026. Help prevent environmental injustice and regulatory corruption.
