05/20/2025 [three years to the day after Entergy closed Palisades for good, only for Holtec to takeover a month later, supposedly to decommission it — a con job, a bait and switch trick, a big lie — but really to zombify/restart it, as well as build two more reactors there!]

Meanwhile, our environmental coalition has still live, new and amended environmental contentions before the NRC Atomic Safety and Licensing Board Panel. The oral argument pre-hearings were held just Thursday, May 15, 2025.
If and when the ASLB rejects those contentions as well, we will appeal those rulings to the five-member NRC Commission, the agency’s directors.
And, if and when the NRC Commissioners likewise reject our petition to intervene, and request for hearings, we plan to appeal to the federal courts.
We also face a mid-June 2025 deadline to petition to intervene, and request a hearing, on Holtec’s License Amendment Requests to NRC, re: Steam Generator Tube Sleeving, as well as Leak-Before-Break. Our coalition, represented by legal counsel Terry Lodge of Ohio, and Wally Taylor of Iowa, plan to meet that deadline. Our expert witness is nuclear engineer Arnie Gundersen, with more than 50 years of relevant experience.
Holtec has continued to stand by its October 2025 zombie reactor restart schedule goal at Palisades, despite it all. We will see about that.
